About

Aikido is a dynamic modern Japanese martial art, created in the 20th century and based on centuries of martial training.  Aikido founder, Morihei Ueshiba, formulated a Martial Way that merges effective technique with a philosophy of peaceful conflict resolution. The power of an attack is controlled, redirected and neutralized.  It is not met with force or violence.  The intent is not to harm or destroy an attacker, but rather to neutralize their aggressive or violent behaviour.

Rock Water Martial Arts and Fitness is committed to spreading Aikido, and developing strong and compassionate leaders in our community.  Our volunteer instructors are committed to teaching traditional Aikido to all ages.  We are led by chief instructor Martin Moreau Sensei, 4th Dan, with the help of many junior instructors.

Rock Water Aikikai is brought to you by Rock Water Martial Arts and Fitness Ltd. Rock Water Aikikai is a member of the British Columbia Aikido Federation , Canadian Aikido Federation and the Aikikai Foundation (World Aikido Headquarters) in Japan.

“Aikido is not an art to fight with enemies and defeat them.  It is a way to lead all human beings to live in harmony with each other as though everyone were one family.”

– Morihei Ueshiba, Osensei
